Paws for a Cause

February 8, 2013

On January 26th I had my first “Paws for a Cause” event in the studio. I’ve had a love for animals since I was a little girl… When my mom would take me trick-or-treating every year, we would get to the door, the kids would say trick or treat and that was my cue… I would kindly ask, with coke bottle frames, and a mischievous smile, if they had any pets.  The owners would sometimes spend hours looking for Mr. Patches, or Ms. Whiskers, just so this little girl wouldn’t leave sad. I’ve always had a love for animals, so I thought this would be the perfect way to give back, and make some new 4 legged friends! 😀 We even had fun making “Moose’s favorite” homemade doggie biscuit’s in the shape of cameras! They were a fan favorite, and many have asked the recipe, so here’s the secret!

We had over 25 dogs in the studio, and 1 brave little kitty! The day went SO smooth (despite the 6 inches of snow we had the night before…) and I could not have asked for a better turn out. The most amazing part, was EVERY animal that came in was a RESCUE! Together, we raised over $400 for the Humane Society of Huron Valley, and had 2 huge baskets full of donation items! Thank you to everyone who came out to be a part of this awesome event! Because of you, many animals will be finding their “fur-ever homes”, and will spend this cold winter day in a shelter with new toys and blankets to cozy up to.

Stay tuned for our future “Paws for a Cause” event’s by “liking” my facebook page!

blessings, dayna

Mo, Mel and Moose (our babes) helped me test the light in the studio before our big event!

Meet Duffy. She made my day, she had more expressions than most humans I know, it was amazing! And when she stood up… she was literally taller than me…we loved this gentle giant!

Jackson (below) was rescued from darting between cars on the highway, after being left by his previous owner, in pretty bad condition. He, was another gentle giant of the day, and was as sweet as every, and had the best puppy dog face..

Bell is as sweet as can be, her owner, Rebecca, just found out last week that sweet little Bell will need to start dialysis in the next month. They are still trying to figure out exactly what is going on with her, but “she’s been a champ about her treatment.” Said Rebecca.

Sweet little Rosie (on the left) spent the first 4 years in a cage “working” for a breeder… when she was rescued, at 4 years old, she had to learn things like going up stairs, and how to be pet… She is now in her forever home with happy momma Rebecca, and her sister Bell.  (above)

Sophie made sure she got here, to represent the cats… even after her and mom had a flat tire, they made it to our last spot of the day!

We had a ton of fun behind the scenes, too! I got my share pf puppy kisses, and could not have done it without the fabulous help of Miss Ashley! 🙂 Thanks for all your hard work.

Here are just SOME of the donation items that were brought….

All the pooch’s had oodles of fun, there’s no jokin’ about that… and we were all THRILLED with the turnout of this event!  Henry & Mochi were so happy that their friends at the Humane Society of Huron Valley would be finding new homes, they could hardly stand it!

I LOVED seeing the finished product! You sure did a great job of catching the essence and personality of every single furry friend we met! You are so welcome but thank you for such an amazing opportunity to be able to make so many new furry friends! They were darling, plus I was able to cuddle with Moose and Mel and see you!! 🙂 You rock!!! Great job!
