Alex & Shannon: The Homestead Resort

October 28, 2013

I knew from the minute I worked with Shannon and Alex in Denver  for their engagement session that they were going to be a blast to work with! Graduating from our hometown, Alex was class president, and Shannon was a world traveler, who wasn’t looking for anything more than friends when she met Alex… not knowing at the time, they would travel the world together.

Their wedding was at the Homestead Resort in the Beautiful Glen Arbor, MI. After living in Denver for 3 years, they loved every minute spending time with friends and family, from literally all over the world that came together for their wedding. Hence, the theme of their wedding, and awesome details! Down to all the postcards she had sent Alex from around the world, and the places she’s traveled since they started dating!

It rained on their wedding day- morning till night- except, during the 30 minutes of their ceremony! They had their heart set on saying their vows with the skyline of lake Michigan as their back drop, and they weren’t going to let the rain stop them- thankfully- the ski lifts were still operating 😉

We discussed this being a possibility, and with a back up plan of having a day after session for Shannon and Alex, and I couldn’t be happier we decided to do this the afternoon after their wedding. The sun was radiant, and it was the perfect September day to capture some gorgeous images of them in the Mitten, before they left for their honeymoon- BORA BORA. Yes, this is another reason Matt and I fell in love with them! 😉

This is a long post- but it was an entire weekend of images! Enjoy! Alex and Shannon, here’s to a lifetime of happiness and sunshine.

blessings, dayna

The next images are from the new MR. and MRS’s “day after” session- we had sun, and some awesome areas to work in, at the lovely Homestead Resort! I got soaked (literally), and was “laying down on the job”  a lot… at least I had jeans on and not a dress for their day after session!
